My Car Smells Like a Thrift Store
Monday, 14 September 2009 13:52

I complained about this most of the weekend. Saturday morning we met up with some friends who had tons of clothes and furniture in some storage units. So we started organizing it with the purpose of taking some of the clothes and food items to families in need.

It still smells.  But this morning when I got in it the smell reminded me of Ray Ray.  He recieved a brand new pair of shoes from the boxes of clothing we brought out. They were JUST his size.  He took off his ragged shoes, sat on the tailgate of a truck and put the shoes on. Then he stood up in them and he cried. He cried out loud, thanking God and asking for his blessings on us for bringing him some new shoes.

A young boy got a pair of shoes too and he was so eager to show me how fast he could run now!

Two teenaged girls told us about how well they were doing in school. How they recently got A's in class. In spite of being homeless and living in a tent community they are focused. That in itself is ann incredible feat!

Today I thank God that my car smells like a thrift store. It's a beautiful reminder of our friends from yesterday and the joy they have!!
