About a year ago, many of us were passing this video around. 7-year-old David
DeVore on YouTube. David's dad was bringing the boy home from the dentist and David was still a little out of it. He asked his dad "Is this real life?" Thanks to revenue
sharing with YouTube and some marketing deals, the DeVores have pulled in
$150,000. Here's the
video.

Yesterday, feeling sleep deprived after a long drive as well as having
two babies at home that have kept me busy and awake A LOT we went to
visit our friends who are homeless and living in a campground.
People Loving People has been going out to this community for almost a
year now so it was not surprise to have Jaslyn run out yelling miss
Donna and wrap her arms around me! BEST part of the day! Her mom came
out and gave me an update on how their family is doing. Jazzy is our
translator sometimes when my Spanish just won't kick in. Her mom was
telling me that Abuelita (grandma) is coming to visit from Mexico. She
hasn't seen her in 10 years.
For two months abuelita will be staying in their small trailer on the
campground with Mr and Mrs Martinez and their three children. There is
clearly not enough to go around as it is but they have so much love and
faith! It's really a good vibe being around their family.
I thought about how we are struggling to stretch everything now with two
babies in the house.
I learned from watching Mr and Mrs Martinez with their kids, and in
December from hearing Jazzy talk about how Christmas was so special says
her daddy because he got to watch her and her brothers open their
presents and that was his gift. I learned that Love covers some of the
stuff we would never expect it to. That Faith stretches us and that Hope
leads us closer to believing that God really will meet the needs of the
Martinez family as well as ours.
When we finished handing out toilet paper, toothpaste, canned food,
bread and pastries to the families who came out, we packed up and got
ready to head back home. Jaslyn came running out yelling "WAIT!" In one
hand she held a tupperware pitcher spilling at her feet as she ran and
in the other some cups. She explained that she had just made some home
made lemonade and wanted us to have a cool drink before we left. It was
the BEST lemonade ever!
We all left with a smile as usual but the relationships that have been
built made THIS visit even sweeter!
